Description
Back in the day when people went outside they wore cloth over their lower extremities, or they were forced to introduce themselves to all their neighbors. To advertise how I’ll fitting these cloth coverings were, strips of material were tied around the narrow parts of a person’s torso. These strips were fastened together with decorative items, called belt buckles, this is an example of one. Alligator skin pattern repousse in brass, framed in sterling silver with brass hardware on the back.
